Gerda Lizett Puju is a final-year student at Viljandi Culture Academy studying cultural management. Her path into this field has been one of enthusiasm and dedication. Gerda became the manager of Tartu University Symphony Orchestra thanks to her great interest in music and event organisation, having already been involved in various cultural and musical events. For example, she has gained valuable experience through her previous involvement in Music Estonia, The Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF), and the programme of Paavli Culture Factory in Tallinn.

“I’m honest when I say that my knowledge of classical music probably only extends as far as some Bach preludes, but I’m a great organiser and extremely dedicated, and these are the things needed to run the orchestra smoothly.”

Despite being a Tallinn girl, she has become happily swept up in the charms of Estonia’s main university city and enjoys every moment in Tartu.

Gerda has been the TÜSO manager since 2024.
